The Trustee Board

The Trustee Board has overall control of Oxfordshire South & Vale Citizens Advice and must make sure it carries out the purposes for which it was set up. The Board focuses on setting strategy, making key decisions and overseeing the running of the charity. Day to-day management is delegated to the Chief Officer.

I live in Henley and have been a trustee of OSAV CA since 2016 and Chair since 2019. I am a retired Chartered Accountant and have been a trustee of a broad range of charities including an East End Settlement, the Girls Day School Trust and grant making trusts. I was also a JP in London for nearly 30 years. Spare time is scarce but I enjoy cinema, eating out and have an eclectic taste in music.

Previous Board roles include Minority Rights Group International; the Royal National Hospital Foundation Trust (Bath); Youth Action Swindon; Swindon Citizens Advice Bureau; Wiltshire Local Strategic Partnership; National Health Quality Improvement Partnership. Co- Founder of the Ethical Trading Initiative. Chair of the Quality Institute for Self-Management Education & Training. Currently, Trustee of Healthwatch Oxfordshire; Co-Chair Oxford Federation of Allotment Associations.

I am a retired Chartered Accountant, living in Wargrave. I am also currently Treasurer of an educational charity, as well as Treasurer to my local Allotment Society. My career spanned 45 years as a finance professional in a variety of industry and commercial sectors. I enjoy using my skills and experience to support the excellent work of Citizens Advice. When not volunteering I enjoy travel, being with my family, including seven grandchildren, tending our allotment and keeping fit.

I am a practising solicitor, working in regulated financial services businesses for over 30 years. I grew up in this area, going to school in Abingdon, and returned 6 years ago with my husband to build our own house near Faringdon. I was a trustee of a Riding for the Disabled affiliated charity for many years. I enjoy being outside and most of my spare time is currently focussed on creating a garden out of the field on which we built our house.

I am a retired HR professional. A three times Chief Human Resources Officer who, in a career spanning over 35 years, worked for five global companies. In addition to my role as a senior leader, my experiences include recruitment, leadership development, coaching, counselling, technology, diversity and CSER. I have travelled extensively and lived and worked in North America, the Netherlands and the UK. My passion is building successful organisations with people at the centre. I live in South Oxfordshire and, after all my travels, have finally found my forever home.

I joined the OSAV Board in Nov 2021 and am the Trustee Lead for Digital and Technology along with facilitating the Board with Strategy development. I have been in and around technology for over 30 years largely leading product management teams providing computer software and internet-based services. Currently Product Operations Director for Körber Supply Chain. I live with my wife and grown-up children in South Oxfordshire, where we have been for over 20 years.

I have worked in fundraising for over 30 years, predominantly within the colleges of Oxford University, but also as a Consultant working on raising funds for good causes. My most recent role was with the wonderful children's hospice, Helen & Douglas House. I enjoy finding people and businesses who may be able to support, and facilitating their involvement in charities whose aims they will agree with.

I was born in Henley on Thames and grew up in Sonning Common. My parents were Irish immigrants, and my family were beneficiaries of the 1950s council housing boom. I'm a chartered civil engineer and was a strategy and development director for a consulting engineering business. I now work as a career coach after taking an MSc in Organisational Psychology. I think it is so important to help people help themselves and am delighted to be working with Citizens Advice.

My background is technically one in law, although I am not (yet) a qualified solicitor- that is what I am studying for now. Previously I worked in Oxfordshire County Council with the children's department. I volunteered with Citizens Advice in Oxford back in 2019 - 2020.

I spent my early career in the private and charitable sectors working in marketing, management and operational leadership roles. After completing an MA in Coaching and Mentoring Practice at Oxford Brookes Business School, I now work in learning and development as a leadership coach and consultant, trainer and facilitator. Volunteering gives me a sense of purpose and I feel privileged to be supporting Citizens Advice as a Trustee. In my spare time I enjoy connecting with people, culture and ideas as well as dog walking, baking and reading.
