Research & Campaigns

With the right evidence, we show companies and the government how they can make things better for people.

We deal with over 11,00 clients each year locally, and over 2.4 million nationally.

With the right evidence, we show companies and the government how they can make things better for people.

At Oxfordshire South and Vale Citizens Advice have a small team of volunteers helping to pull all the information we gather together, working with the National Body to try and effect change to make things better.

Cost of Living Briefings

Tue, 10 Oct 2023 11:00 – 12:00 BST

Our October cost-of-living event will be hosted virtually during the Labour Party Conference. Clare Moriarty, our Chief Executive, and Tom MacInnes, our Data Analyst will be speaking live from Citizens Advice Liverpool. Panellists will be announced soon.

This event will look at what’s going wrong with policy making and explore panellist’s thoughts on how to fix it. Half of the people coming to us for help with debt have a negative budget. We’re also supporting more and more people who haven’t come to us before, like mortgage holders and those in full time employment.

We’re continuing to help record numbers of people access food banks. Policy changes and government support have helped bring these numbers down slightly, but they’re still alarmingly high. So what’s the answer? How do we fix broken policy making?

A recording of this event will be available afterwards for anyone who was unable to attend or would like to watch it back. You can find out more about our cost-of-living data dashboard on our blog Our Data – We are Citizens Advice and if you haven’t already, do also register for our November event here.
